New members are welcome to apply for membership anytime during the year. The LAP membership renewal period begins each November. Membership Qualifications are set out in the LAP Bylaws.

EXPANDED MEMBERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES: LAP Voting/Joint LBA membership is now open to paralegals who work or reside within the following geographic areas.

Kentucky counties of Jefferson, Bullitt, Hardin, Henry, Larue, Meade, Oldham, Nelson, Shelby, Spencer, or Trimble
Indiana counties of Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Jefferson, Scott, or Washington

Voting/Joint LBA Member - $50.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st No automatically recurring payments Paralegals currently performing duties as described in SCR 3.700, and working under the supervision and direction of a member in good standing of the Kentucky Bar Association, or a member in good standing of the Bar of any other state or the District of Columbia, are eligible to apply for Voting/Joint LBA Membership. Applicants must work or reside in the geographic areas listed in the LAP Bylaws and meet the minimum education/experience qualifications for this category of membership. In addition, applicants must meet all qualifications governed by the Louisville Bar Association for paralegal membership. Please review the LAP Bylaws for all LAP membership qualifications.

Associate Membership - $55.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st No automatically recurring payments Individuals who would otherwise meet the requirements for Voting/Joint LBA membership but have not yet acquired the minimum education of experience qualifications. Please review the LAP Bylaws for all membership qualifications.

Student Member Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st No automatically recurring payments Student enrolled in a paralegal studies program approved by the American Bar Association (ABA); a paralegal studies program that, while not ABA-approved, is in substantial compliance with ABA approval guidelines; or a program with a focus in legal studies at an accredited college or university are eligible to become a Student member of the LAP at no cost. Please review the LAP Bylaws for all LAP membership qualifications.

Sustaining Member - $100.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st No automatically recurring payments Sustaining Membership is available to law firms, corporations, businesses, educational institutions, and members of bar associations who endorse or are actively involved in the promotion of the paralegal profession consistent with purposes of the LAP. Please review the LAP Bylaws for all LAP membership qualifications.

Emeritus Member - $20.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st No automatically recurring payments Individuals who have retired from the paralegal profession and would previously have met the qualifications for Voting/Joint LBA or Associate membership outlined above are eligible for Emeritus membership. Please review the LAP Bylaws for all LAP membership qualifications.

Adjunct Member Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st No automatically recurring payments Individuals serving as a director or educator of a paralegal studies program approved by the American Bar Association (ABA); a paralegal studies program that, while not ABA-approved, is in substantial compliance with ABA approval guidelines; or a program with a focus in legal studies at an accredited college or university are eligible to become Adjunct members of the LAP at no cost.
