THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29 @ 12:00 pm EST

Please join the LAP for a 1-hour webinar on Thursday, October 29 @ 12:00 pm EST for Part V of our virtual CLE Series: A Guide to Online Depositions, presented by Michael McDonner of Kentuckiana Court Reporters. Register at http://www.loupara.org/event-4025343.

Kentuckiana Court Reporters is offering this CLE to help attorneys and paralegals adapt to taking depositions via online videoconferencing during the coronavirus outbreak. The topics examined include: the legal requirements to take a remote deposition during state of emergency; legal requirements to take remote deposition after state of emergency ends (they’re different); notice requirements; Zoom vs. WebEx and making Zoom more secure; and tips for planning and conducting a successful deposition during quarantine.

Part V of this series qualifies for one KPACC-approved non-ethics credit for paralegals. This CLE activity is also approved by the Kentucky Bar Association for attorney CLE credit.

Free registration for LAP members. Non-Members may register for $10.

After registering on the LAP website, you will receive an email prior to the event with a Zoom link to join the webinar.

Certified Kentucky Paralegals - An activity code will be announced during the webinar, which must be included on your LAP Certificate of Completion and KPACC CLE Certificate of Attendance Form.

About our speaker:

Michael McDonner is the President of Kentuckiana Court Reporters and Kentucky Court Reporters. He oversees a staff of over 300 court reporters, transcriptionists and legal videographers across the South. He is focused on new trends in litigation technology and was a sponsor of the Jefferson County Courtroom Upgrade Project in Louisville, KY that made the courtrooms there some of the most advanced in the country.

Before retiring from the practice of law, Mike worked in a wide range of litigation backgrounds. He handled medical malpractice defense cases, RICO litigation and appraiser litigation during the housing crises. He successfully defended an insurer from indemnification claims during Kentucky’s “Enron” litigation at the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and handled numerous other personal injury claims. In short, he took a lot of depositions.

Mike has a particular interest in communication and persuasion. He was the first person to win back-to-back NFA National Collegiate Debate Championships and still holds the record for most national titles won. He also has five children who test and refocus his persuasion skills on a daily basis.
